Todd Miller and the Joe Loss Band
Todd Miller & The Joe Loss Big Band at last years event
The Janet and Julie Ball comprises of fun, food, laughter and friends to celebrate the lives of two very special people Janet and Julie.  We celebrate them and the many others who have been affected by breast cancer by raising as much money as possible in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

We start the evening with a delicious three course meal then follow it with dancing to the world famous Todd Miller & The Joe Loss Big Band. This is followed by a raffle draw and then more dancing. Later in the evening comes the Grand Draw and Auction and we complete the night with even more dancing.

Dear Karen and Linda, I wanted to thank you and your incredible team for organising such a wonderful event in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. I attended the 4th Annual "Janet & Julie Charity Ball" in 2007 and I had a fantastic evening and it was an honour to represent Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Events like these are incredibly hard and time consuming to organise and to have done it so professionally, and with such incredible results, is truly amazing.

To have raised over £42,000.00 for Breakthrough to date is an incredible achievement; to give you an idea of how crucial your support has been £40,000 could have bought a microscope which is essential for looking at cells and also enough chemicals and specialist equipment to fund a scientists work for a whole year.

Breakthrough could not carry out its vital work without the dedication, commitment and hard work of our supporters who organise great events such as this, and also all those people who attend these events and are kind enough to give so generously. Please accept my sincere appreciation of your fundraising and the part that you are playing in our vision; a future free from the fear of breast cancer.

Chris Askew
Head of Fund Raising at Breakthrough Breast Cancer

I am delighted that you have shown an interest in the 5th Annual ‘Janet & Julie Charity Ball’ in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer; the UK’s leading charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research and education.  Your generosity will have a great impact in our fight against breast cancer.

I am proud to be Director of the UK’s first dedicated breast cancer research centre, which was established by Breakthrough in 1999. At our unique centre we have over 120 world-class scientists and doctors working together under one roof to tackle breast cancer.

Our major focus is finding more effective ways to treat patients with breast cancer. I am delighted at the progress we’ve made recently; for example last year we launched a new clinical trial to test a tailored treatment for a particularly aggressive type of breast cancer. We also took an important step towards getting a potential new targeted cancer treatment into clinical trials – this is already showing great promise.

1 in 9 women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lifetime and with over 46,000 diagnosed each year, it is the UK’s main health concern for women. More women than ever in the UK are surviving breast cancer thanks to better awareness, better treatments and better screening.

Thank you again for showing an interest in the Janet and Julie Ball and for helping Breakthrough Breast Cancer work towards our vision, a future free from the fear of breast cancer.

I know you will have a wonderful evening.
